FINCA COLLADO
MERLOT + MONASTRELL

Finca Collado Merlot Monastrell is an expressive rosé wine and different from that which the rest of the market offers, both in varieties and its very particular elaboration.

For a discerning consumer or someone who wants a different wine than other rosés in the market, and also for those who enjoy a fresh and subtle wine. The Merlot is a low-production vineyard with saline soil and the Monastrell is fermented and raised with its lees for 2 months.

With these differential characteristics we find a rosé with many nuances and that maintains its full potential until the end of the year and beginning of the next.

GRAPE: 85% Merlot 15% Monastrell

VINEYARD: 30-year-old Merlot strains located in Finca Collado, on land with high minerality and salinity. Trellis system with low planting density with support irrigation from groundwater. Old Monastrell vines over 40 years old planted in goblet.

VINTAGE: 2018 was a year with abundant winter rain and a vegetative period of lower temperatures, with late maturity. The result was a very balanced wine and some fine and elegant aromas.

ELABORATION: Hand-picked, The Merlot was picked by hand in September 2018, was pressed directly and fermented for 15 days at 14ºC temperature. The Monastrell was picked in October and the free run juice passed directly to the barrel, where it fermented and was with its lees for 2 months.

Finca Collado Merlot Monastrell is a rosé that has a structure and silkiness quite separately in the mouth, a result of the combination of vinification techniques.

VISUAL: It has a pale, bright color, which makes a pleasant feeling on the eye.

NOSE: The mature strawberry with notes of jam predominates on the nose, without being overly intense, with very subtle touches of coffee.

MOUTH: In the mouth it has a light entrance and its pass through the mouth is soft and refreshing, finished with a remarkable acidity that balances the wine. This balance in mouth gives way to an aftertaste where the aromas stand out of red fruits, leaving a feeling of having drunk a rosé with something else, because only here is where the contribution of the barrel in the Monastrell is subtly shown.
